Accolade Programs Earn NCQA Accreditation

The recent NCQA Accreditation of our case management program is an external validation of what we at Accolade strive to achieve every day.

The NCQA Accreditation is another assurance to our customers that they are providing exceptional healthcare programs and services to their employees and members through the Accolade solution.

So exactly what is NCQA Accreditation and why does it matter? NCQA, the National Committee for Quality Assurance, is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to improving health care quality. NCQA accredits and certifies a wide range of health care organizations. It also recognizes clinicians and practices in key areas of performance. NCQA's Case Management Accreditation is a voluntary review process, intended to help organizations achieve the highest level of performance possible, and create an environment of continuous improvement. Earning NCQA's Case Management Accreditation is an indication that an organization's program is dedicated to care coordination, patient-centeredness and improving quality of care: getting the right care to patients.

NCQA Accreditation standards are developed with input from researchers in the field, the Case Management Expert Panel, and standing committees employers, both purchasers and operators of Case Management programs, state and federal regulators and other experts. NCQA awards the status of Accredited-2 years to organizations that demonstrate performance of ten functions, such as

  • Care Planning: coordinating services for patients through the development of individualized care plans;
  • Care Monitoring: a system to support case management activities and monitors individualized care plans;
  • Care Transitions: a process to manage care transitions, identify problems that could cause care transitions and prevent unplanned transitions, when possible;
  • Measurement and Quality Improvement: measuring patient satisfaction, program effectiveness and participation rates at least annually; and
  • Staffing, Training and Verification: provides staff with ongoing training and oversight and verifies health care staff credentials.

Complex Case Management

The complex case management program provides intensive management of clients with multiple conditions, traumatic events, or highly complex diagnoses using nurse case managers. It involves a holistic assessment of the client's medical, psychosocial, behavioral, and environmental needs with the goal of improving his/her quality of life and overall health.

Maternity Case Management

Accolade provides an integrated maternity program that supports any preexisting health condition that can cause complications with a pregnancy, connecting an obstetrical nurse with all pregnant clients, not just those considered high-risk.

NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) Case Management

The NICU Case Management program focuses on helping families understand the treatment premature or sick babies receive while they are in the hospital and helping families prepare to care for the infants at discharge. Families are engaged during and after the baby's hospital stay. Case Managers work closely with physicians and hospital staff to coordinate care after discharge and help parents coordinate services that might be necessary in the home.

Oncology Case Management

For clients with oncology conditions, Accolade provides experienced and specialized Registered Nurses who understand clients' condition and treatments and can help clients make informed decisions and work with their physicians to better manage their health. Decreasing costs, improving overall health outcomes, and preserving each client's dignity during this difficult time are our primary objectives.
