Tom Spann was the founding CEO of Accolade. In that role, he grew Accolade to a 700-person organization that proved that by giving people one place to go, delighting them with amazing service, building a strong personal relationship, and uncovering and supporting their real healthcare needs, they could re-define consumer engagement in healthcare and consistently deliver savings.
During that time, Accolade was ranked as the fastest growing company in healthcare in the Inc. 500/5000 from 2009-2011 and a top 20 fastest growing in healthcare from 2012-2014. Accolade was also named one of America’s 25 Most Promising Companies. In 2015, Tom received the Philadelphia Region “Entrepreneur of the Year” award from Ernst & Young.
Tom is motivated by making a “meaningful and positive difference” in the nation’s healthcare system and the lives of American families by showing the power of behavioral science and relationships as a force for people making and acting on good healthcare decisions. He previously served as senior managing partner at Accenture, where he led the North America Products Group, a $2 billion, 10,000-employee operating unit that included all of Accenture’s clients in Health & Life Sciences.
Tom holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
He and his wife, Nancy, have two daughters: Jenny and Meredith.
